Office Sex series - Michael and Jan.

Michael opened the front door and let himself in warily. He looked around for any sign of Jan. Lately, she had been ambushing him at the front door after work. Michael was starting to find her constant sexual demands exhausting.

He lifted his head and smelled the air. He detected the scent of food cooking. Following his nose towards the kitchen he entered and saw Jan standing at the stove, wearing a small dish cloth as an apron and stirring ingredient in a pot. She gave him a welcoming smile. She seemed calm and not her usual manic self today.

“Hello Michael.” She said sweetly. Michael liked Jan best when she in her domestic mode. He walked over and gave her a chaste kiss on the cheek.

“I’m making my special spaghetti sauce and pasta.” She said brightly. Michael took off his jacket and laid it over the back of a kitchen chair.

“Wow, what’s the occasion?” He asked. He enjoyed the smell of the tomatoes and herb concoction.

“Oh, your mother called and she is coming for dinner.” She said lightly and continued to stir.
Michael felt his heart drop and he sat in the chair. He looked down and rubbed his eyes. This was obviously not good news.

“What’s the matter?” Jan asked, seeing Michael’s distraught response.

“Jan, Jan, Jan, this is not good!” Michael said and started rocking in the chair. Jan put the spoon down and walked over to him. She put her hand on his back and patted him tenderly.

“Michael, why are you getting upset?” She asked gently, “What’s wrong with your mom visiting?”

“She’s evil!” Michael exhaled, feeling a panic attack coming on. “She doesn’t like me too much.”

“Michael, she’s your mother!” Jan caressed his back. She was shocked at this response, “Of course your mom likes you. She loves you!”

Michael looked up at Jan’s concerned face. He was touched at her caring expression. He breathed in and sat up straight. He looked out the window for a second and then answered hesitantly. “You’re right. I’m probably overacting.”

“You have obviously had a very hard day at work.” Jan said, “Why don’t you go take a shower and relax.”

Michael stood and Jan gave him a small kiss on the cheek. She looked very closely in his eyes and saw in his a pain that hurt her to see. “You’re going to be fine Michael.”

Michael walked out of the room like a man walking to the electric chair. Jan watched him leave. She pondered what was in store for the evening. She went back to the stove and stirred the pot, mulling over the situation.

Michael took a hot shower and changed into jeans and a sweatshirt. He was somber for the next hour. He heard the front door bell chime. Walking to the door, he opened it with a look a resignation on his face.

“Well, about time Michael!” his mother snapped and she pushed past him. She was a tall, imposing woman. Her hair was slate gray and cut into a short bob. Her eyes were blue and she had a tight smile on her face. She was wearing a light blue sweater and a pair of white slacks. She carried a large white designer bag.

“Hi mother.” Michael said flatly and he leaned over and to give her a kiss on the cheek. She pulled away before his lips made contact.

“So, Jan answered your phone.” She said, “Are you living together now. You can’t just marry her like most normal men out there?”

Jan came into the living room to greet them. She was looking very pretty in a jeans and a soft peach sweater. Her hair was pulled back in a pearl clip. Her face made up lightly with cosmetics. She looked every bit an innocent woman.

“Hi, I’m Jan, it’s so nice to meet you.” Jan said pleasantly and proffered her hand.
Michael’s mother inspected her closely as they shook hands. “So your Michael’s boss. Now you live with him. That part of his job perk?”

Jan took in the tone without a flinch. One of her eyebrows raised and she instantly assessed the woman in front of her. She knew a shark when she saw one and this was not too much for her to handle. “Actually, I would consider it a bonus for me.” Jan smiled widely and continued the shake, forcing Michael’s mom to break the handshake.

Jan placed her hand him Michael’s and leaned next to him. “You have a wonderful son here, Mrs…?”

“Standish. Mrs. Standish.” His mother replied. “I got rid of Michael’s dad’s name with the next marriage. Traded up.”

“Well, I’ve made a wonderful pasta for our dinner.” Jan replied calmly, “I have the table ready if you’re hungry.” She led Michael to the dining room. He squeezed her hand.

“Well, I have to eat.” Mrs. Standish said curtly, “I suppose pasta will do.” She followed, looking around at the tastefully decorated room. It was obvious that the place had received a woman’s touch. She watched Michael and Jan walk ahead of her disapprovingly.

Once in the dining room, Mrs. Standish saw that the table setting was placed in tan and blue plates and napkins. There was a small bouquet of white daisies in the center. Michael was almost mute. He never met his mother’s eyes, worrying over what her next words would be.
He sat at the table and Jan fussed over him. Mrs. Standish sat in a chair opposite Michael. She watched him closely.

“Michael, how have you been?” She asked in a matter-of-fact tone.

“I’m fine, mother.” Michael said in a monotone. He started eating his dinner. He focused his attention on the fork of spaghetti as if it were a work of art.

Seeing that there was not to be any stimulating conversation from her son, she turned her attention to Jan. She took in Jan’s pretty appearance. This woman was very attractive. She had to have ulterior motives to be with her son.

“So how does a man’s boss end up living in his house with him?” Mrs. Standish asked. Jan, having taken a bite wiped her mouth with the napkin and smiled at the woman.

“I am not Michael’s boss anymore?” She answered.

“Really, you get fired because of Michael?” Mrs. Standish queried. She gave a sideways glance at Michael, who stopped chewing for a second. He waited for Jan’s response.

“Actually,” Jan said and she placed a hand on Michael’s across the table. Michael looked up at Jan. “I quit my job because they tried to make Michael and I stop seeing each other.” She lied.

Michael’s eyebrows rose at her lie. Something about the way she looked at him made him feel a little happy inside. He gave a slight smile.

“So, are you two planning to marry?” Mrs. Standish inquired, slightly uncomfortable at the show of affection shared between her son and Jan.

“Oh, we have all the time in the world.” Jan answered, “We are getting to know each other. You truly have a remarkable son here, Mrs. Standish.”

“Oh, he was such a problem child.” Mrs. Standish replied, “Always complaining. You know he wet his bed until he was 11 years-old.” Michael let go of Jan’s hand and looked down at his plate. Jan took his hand back and gave it a small squeeze.

“Well,” Jan said politely, “I have often found that children with those problems have insecurities that go away when they grow up and have more secure relationships. I can guarantee, Mrs. Standish, that Michael doesn’t have that problem anymore.”

Mrs. Standish ran the words over in her head and tried for a second to figure out if she had just been insulted. Jan stood and offered her a another glass of wine. Jan’s kind expression and politeness belied any malice. Mrs. Standish took a long drink of wine. She watched Jan closely as she sat back down.

“What are you doing now for employment?” She asked Jan.

“I have some feelers out and have had some very nice job offers to consider.” Jan said, “But, I am enjoying just taking care of Michael for a while before I head back into those murky career waters.”

“So Michael supports you?” Mrs. Standish continued.

“No, of course not.” Jan said and she gave Michael a small look of endearment, “I have a very substantial income saved up and I can afford to take a hiatus from work.”

Mrs. Standish frowned slightly at this beautiful woman’s invisible coat of armor. She searched her memory of things Michael had told her in the past.

“You’re divorced right?” She asked innocently.

“Yes,” Jan replied, “Wrong man. He didn’t have Michael’s strong heart. I wanted children. He didn’t. But, I was lucky to find Michael when I did. If things end up like we hope, I think Michael will be a wonderful father.”

Sensing that the battle was lost Mrs. Standish kept the conversation to a minimum after that. Jan spoke lightly about Michael’s career success and about their trip to Sandal’s Jamaica. Mrs. Standish followed the conversation politely, but distantly. Michael watched Jan in amazement at how she had handled this introduction to his mother. He had been sure that his mother would offend her and make her feel unwelcome. In the end, Jan had turned the tables and made his mother feel uncomfortable.

After dinner, Mrs. Standish did not make an attempt to stay longer. She came up with an excuse of meeting her book club. Michael and Jan walked her to the door. Mrs. Standish stood frozen in shock as Jan gave her a big bear hug. She stood still awaiting Michael’s usual missed kiss on the cheek. Michael just stood and gazed at Jan. Slightly miffed at Michael inattentiveness, Mrs. Standish left quietly.

The door closed and Michael stood still, his hands in his pockets. Jan walked up to him and embraced him into her arms. They hugged silently for a full minute. She pulled back and looked into his eyes.

“I had no idea Michael.” Jan said, shaking her head. She gave a loud breathy sigh and looked into Michael’s face. A single tear welled up in his eye and he wiped it away. He felt so embarrassed. Jan pulled close to him again. “You know, I think I finally figured out why I can’t let go of you.”

“Why?” Michael asked softly.

“Because, of all the men in my life, you truly do need me in your life and I need you in mine.” She said and she kissed him sweetly.

Yes, yes I think I do.” Michael whispered.

“You are never going to be unloved again Michael.” Jan said tenderly, “I promise you that.”
She pulled Michael towards the stairs. He watched her and followed willingly. After many sexual encounters between Michael and Jan, they went upstairs and for the first time, made love.
